Come and experience a unique connection with Caribbean nature and culture! At Fundación Batis, we offer in-person environmental education at our ecotone located in Puerto Colombia, Atlántico. Learn about sustainability, biodiversity conservation, proper waste management, and much more, while enjoying outdoor activities such as guided eco-walks and making organic compost in our agroecological garden.

Volunteering
Welcome to our territory for reconnecting with nature! Here, we invite you to become an agent of change through our volunteer programs. Located in Puerto Colombia, our territory combines mangrove and tropical dry forest ecosystems, where you can enjoy awareness-raising and creative activities.
We have an agroecological garden, a waste management area, and an edible forest of native species. Additionally, we have an environmental science research laboratory.
Come and be part of the solution for social and environmental balance on our planet!
Volunteer activities:
- Agroecology: Help with planting, harvesting, and caring for plants in agroecological gardens, learn to prepare natural fertilizers and biological controls, and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
- Environmental Sustainability and Resilience: Participate in activities for biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration, support the implementation of practices to reduce environmental impact, and assist in identifying sustainable solutions for the community.
- Urban Gardens and Food Sovereignty: Collaborate in the creation and maintenance of urban gardens to promote local food production and food autonomy for communities.
- Community Nurseries: Assist in plant propagation and the creation of community nurseries for ecosystem restoration and biodiversity conservation.
- Proper Waste Management: Participate in campaigns for cleaning, separation, and proper waste management, promote recycling and reuse practices, and support the creation of waste management systems in the community.
- Biodiversity Conservation: Participate in activities for the conservation of species and natural habitats, such as wildlife and flora monitoring, identification of invasive species, and ecosystem restoration.
- Compost Management: Assist in the production and maintenance of compost for organic fertilizer production and the reduction of organic waste in the community.
- Garden Organization: Participate in the organization and planning of garden activities, and in the implementation of practices for plant care and maintenance.
- Crop Rotation: Learn about the importance of crop rotation in sustainable agriculture and assist in implementing this practice in the garden.
- Planting and Harvesting: Participate in planting and harvesting plants in the garden, learn about appropriate techniques for each crop type, and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
- Environmental Issues: Participate in awareness and education campaigns on environmental topics such as pollution, ecosystem degradation, wildlife trafficking, and global warming, and support the identification of sustainable solutions for the community.
- Conservation Medicine: Participate in activities for the conservation of species and natural habitats, and learn about techniques and methods for wildlife and flora research and monitoring.
- Animal Care: Support the care and attention of animals in rescue and rehabilitation programs, and learn about the needs and behaviors of different species.
- Zoonoses: Participate in campaigns for the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases, and learn about the risks and necessary precautions to prevent disease transmission between animals and humans.
